Iceland

Many travelers from visa-exempt countries can visit Iceland without a visa for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Because Iceland is part of the Schengen Area, time spent in other Schengen countries generally counts toward the same 90-day limit. Non-EEA/EFTA travelers must generally have a passport issued within the previous 10 years and valid for at least three months beyond their planned departure.

Travelers who are not visa exempt must generally obtain a Schengen visa before visiting Iceland. Requirements vary by nationality, so check Iceland’s official immigration information before booking your trip.

Proof of onward destination is sometimes requested by airlines or border control. Have not personally had this happen yet.

Travel insurance is required for Schengen visa applicants and is recommended for other travelers as well.
